How to use this worksheet
- Print one copy each. Keep your sheet somewhere you will see it, like by the bed or on the fridge.
- Notice one thing a day. Look for something specific your partner did or was, however small, and write it in that day's box.
- Say it out loud. Tell your partner what you noticed, in a sentence or two. Written notes work too, but spoken words land best.
- Finish the week sheet. On day seven, complete the quality you admire, the thank-you and how your partner likes to be appreciated.
- Swap and talk. Share your sheets for ten minutes. Ask what felt best to hear, then start a new week.

Tips
- Look for effort, not only big gestures. Small daily things are the ones that usually go unnoticed. Try 60 meaningful compliments if you get stuck.
- Avoid backhanded praise. "Thanks for finally doing the dishes" is not appreciation.
- Appreciation is not the same as keeping score. Read appreciation vs. gratitude for the difference.
- If your partner prefers different ways of being shown care, the love language quiz can start a useful chat. It is unofficial and for reflection only.
Questions people ask
What is the difference between appreciation and a compliment?
A compliment is usually about how someone looks or what they are like. Appreciation names something your partner did or a quality they showed, and what it meant to you. For example, "I noticed you called your mom back for me. It made me feel looked after." Specific and honest works best.
What if I am feeling resentful or unappreciated myself?
That is common, and the worksheet can still help. Start small and only write what is true. If you feel unseen, share that with your partner on the last day using the "I feel most appreciated when..." prompt. See feeling unappreciated in your relationship.
Do we both have to do it for it to work?
It works best together, but you can start alone. Noticing what your partner does well often changes how you feel about them, and kind words tend to be returned over time. Just do not turn it into a test of whether they will copy you.
Can I do this for more than one week?
Yes. Many couples repeat it for a few weeks, then switch to a shorter habit, like one spoken thank-you a day. The 7-day appreciation journal has more daily prompts to keep it fresh.
