Privacy, data and security

20 answers about privacy, data and security from Stronger Couple. Direct, plain-language answers with links to learn more.

What data does Stronger Couple collect?

We collect what the app needs to work: your email address and display name, the content you create (check-ins, appreciations, prompt responses, goals, milestones, conflict discussions, quiz sessions, date-night history and weekly reports), your partner link, your subscription status from Apple, and reports you send us. Crash reports are collected without your name, email or entries. Payments are processed by Apple, so we never see your card details. Our privacy policy has the full list.

Where is my data stored?

Your entries are saved on your iPhone first. When you're signed in, they're also backed up to your account with Supabase, our database and sign-in provider, on servers in the United States, so you can restore them on a new device and share chosen entries with a linked partner. If you use the app without an account, your entries stay only on your device. See our privacy policy for every service we use.

Is my data encrypted?

Yes, in transit and at rest. Data sent between the app and our servers travels over encrypted connections (TLS), and our database provider encrypts stored data at rest. This is not end-to-end encryption, which means stored data can still be decrypted on our systems. The next question explains what that means for you. Our privacy policy has more detail.

Is Stronger Couple end-to-end encrypted?

No. Stronger Couple is not end-to-end encrypted. End-to-end encryption means only the people in a conversation hold the keys, so even the company can't read the content. We don't offer that. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and database access rules limit which accounts can see which entries. If you need content no one else could ever access, keep those thoughts in a private journal instead.

Can Stronger Couple staff read my entries?

Because the app is not end-to-end encrypted, people with administrative access to our database could technically access stored entries. Within the app, access rules let only you, and your linked partner for items you choose to share, see your entries. We only look at specific content when we have a reason to, such as reviewing a report. A report includes a copy of the reported item so our team can review it. Our privacy policy explains how we handle data.

Do you sell my data?

No. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share data only with the service providers needed to run the app: Supabase for the database and sign-in, Apple for distribution, payments and Sign in with Apple, Sentry for crash reports, and Microsoft 365 for the emails we send. We also disclose data when the law requires it. The full list is in our privacy policy. We don't use advertising networks.

Do you use my entries to train AI?

No. Stronger Couple doesn't include AI features, and we don't send your check-ins, appreciations or other entries to AI services or use them to train AI models. If we ever add an AI feature, we'll explain exactly what data it uses, make it clear in the app, and update our privacy policy before it launches.

Do you use analytics or tracking SDKs?

The app has no advertising, tracking or analytics software, and it doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites. It does use Sentry for crash reporting. Crash reports include technical details such as the device model, iOS version and app version. They're set up to leave out your name, email, account ID, screenshots and the text of your entries. See our privacy policy for details.

What can my partner see?

Your partner can see only what you choose to share, and only while you're linked: check-ins you share, with your answers, mood and relationship rating, plus appreciations, goals and milestones you share. They also see your display name and whether they've viewed a shared item. Private entries stay private. If something you try to share looks like it contains threats or abuse, it's kept private instead of shared. Your partner can't see your email address. For more, read can my partner see everything I write in our app FAQ, or visit the partner linking page.

How do I delete my data but keep my account?

You can delete individual entries in the app. Use the trash button on an appreciation, the delete option on a check-in, goal, milestone or saved prompt response, and confirm. Deletions sync to your account, so the entry is removed from our servers too. There's no single button to clear everything while keeping your account, so for that, email us from your account address through Support. To remove everything, see how to delete your account.

How do I delete my account?

Open the app, tap the profile button at the top of any tab to open settings, scroll to the bottom, tap Delete account, tap Continue, then tap Delete forever. If you use Sign in with Apple, you'll be asked to confirm with Apple. This deletes your Stronger Couple data right away and can't be undone. It doesn't stop Apple billing, so cancel any subscription separately. Our account deletion page explains what happens.

Can I delete my account without the app?

Yes. If you no longer have the app or can't sign in, you can request deletion by email, as explained on our account deletion page. Send the request from the email address on your account so we can confirm it's you. We'll confirm when the deletion is complete. Remember to cancel any subscription separately through your Apple settings.

How long until my data is fully deleted?

When you delete your account in the app, your Stronger Couple data is removed from our live database right away, while you wait, and the app clears it from your iPhone. Copies in our database provider's routine backups expire on the provider's schedule. Reports you filed are kept for safety reviews with your identity removed. If you ask us by email instead, we delete your data once we've confirmed the request. See our privacy policy.

Does deleting my account delete my partner's data?

No. Deleting your account removes your own entries, including items you had shared with your partner, and ends your partner link. Any Premium you were sharing with your partner ends too. Your partner's account and the entries they wrote stay in their account. If your Stronger Couple login is also used by another J&H Technology app, the login is kept for that app, but your Stronger Couple data is still deleted. See how to delete your account.

Can I export my data?

The app doesn't have an export feature. You have the right to request a copy of your personal data in a portable format. Email us from your account address, as described on our Support page, and we'll send it to you. If we add an in-app export, we'll update this answer and announce it on our What's new page.

Is Stronger Couple GDPR / CCPA compliant?

We support the privacy rights in laws like the GDPR (Europe's General Data Protection Regulation) and the CCPA (the California Consumer Privacy Act). You can ask to access, copy, correct or delete your personal data, and you can delete your account yourself in the app. We don't sell your data. We don't claim any certification. To use your rights, contact us through Support. Our privacy policy explains the process.

Is the app suitable for under-18s?

Stronger Couple is designed for adult couples in romantic relationships. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If we learn we have, we delete it. The App Store age rating is shown on our listing. Teens and young adults with relationship questions can contact love is respect by calling 1-866-331-9474 or texting LOVEIS to 22522.

What notifications will I get?

Only reminders you choose: a weekly check-in reminder on the day and time you pick, a Monday morning weekly report reminder, and reminders before milestone dates you've added. They're scheduled on your iPhone, and the app asks for permission before sending any. The app doesn't send marketing notifications. Change them in the app's Notifications settings, or turn them off in your iPhone's Settings app under Notifications, then Stronger Couple.

What if my partner is monitoring my phone?

If you think your partner is monitoring your phone, trust that instinct. Phones can reveal location, messages and browsing history, and private browsing doesn't fully hide it. Where possible, use a device your partner can't access, like a library computer. On iPhone, Apple's Safety Check can review who you share information with. Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 to plan safely, and see Help Now.

How do I report a security issue?

Please report security problems privately by email, using the address on our Support page, and put "Security" in the subject. Describe what you found and how to reproduce it, and don't access or change other people's data while testing. We'll acknowledge your report and keep you updated while we fix it. Please don't post details publicly until a fix is released.
